Emberheart is a d100-driven tactical fantasy Tabletop RPG where actions never miss, cards shape how battles unfold, magic fuels power at the risk of burning you alive, and every scar and consequence makes survival as defining as victory.

Inspired by Gloomhaven and D&D 4th Edition, Emberheart seeks to consistently challenge players, prioritizing the tangible costs of engagement and the consequences of power. Combat actions always succeed, but the dice determine the magnitude of success, shifting player focus from "if" to "how much" and ensuring that a player never feels like their turn was wasted.

Combat is further defined by a card based ability system, action points, the Heat resource management system that creates consequences for unbridled magic use, and the Pressure mechanic.

 

As a player who enjoys the supporting playstyle/archetype, I focused on creating features like the Pressure system to provide a framework for that playstyle to meaningfully contribute to a party. 

​

Additionally, I wanted to move away from the traditional classes that are prevalent in many fantasy rpgs like rogue, barbarian, cleric, wizard, etc. Emberheart currently features 10 unique classes, ranging from the monster hunting Slayer to the time-bending Chronomancer. Combined with 15 ancestries (8 traditional, 7 unique), 15+ backgrounds, and 10+ traits, players have a multitude of combinations to express themselves.

Utilizing a d100 system and breaking away from the traditional primary stats in many RPG's has allowed me to create a progression system that offers something meaningful every step from 2 to 20.
